The VCF-11 is an advanced 2 pole resonating filter with individual low, band, and high pass outputs. The frequency can be modulated as well as scaled per keyboard tracking.

CONTROLS

FREQ

The frequency knob changes the cutoff frequency.

RES

The resonance knob controls the amount of feedback in the filter.

CV AMT

The control voltage amount knob applies the CV socket input to the frequency.

TRK AMT

The keyboard tracking amount mixes the 1V/oct signal with the cutoff knob amount.

SOCKETS

CV

Control voltage input for frequency modulation.

IN

Signal input.

1V/OCT

Keyboard note value input in 1 volt per octave.

LP

Low pass output.

BP

Band pass output.

HP

High pass output.

TYPE

Filter

FILTER TYPE

Low pass, band pass, high pass

FILTER SLOPE

12db per octave (low, high), 6 db per octave (band)

FREQUENCY RANGE

0 hz to approx 7 khz

MORE INFORMATION

A low pass filter allows frequencies below the cutoff frequency to pass through while attenuating frequencies above the cutoff frequency.

A band pass filter allows frequencies near the cutoff frequency to pass through while attenuating frequencies above and below the cutoff frequency.

A High pass filter allows frequencies above the cutoff frequency to pass through while attenuating frequencies below the cutoff frequency.

High resonance values will emphasize the filter frequency and slightly reduce the amplitudes of all other frequencies.

TIP

You would typically filter waveforms with lots of harmonics such as sawtooth and square. Filtering a sine wave will have minimal effect.

When the keyboard tracking and cutoff frequency is set to maximum, adding the 1V/oct signal from the MASTER module will allow the filter to resonate at the same pitch of the keyboard. The VCF-11 does not self resonate, so it cannot be used as pitched sine wave oscillator.

The VCF-11 can output low pass, band pass, and high pass effects at the same time for some advanced routing of your audio signal. For example, try running the low pass ouput into the DIST-13 and the high pass output into the DELAY-11. Then blend the two effect together with the MIX-02.
